Privacy Policy

TimberClear ("we", "us") operates timberclear.com, a directory that helps landowners find timber buyers, forestry consultants, loggers, and mills. This policy explains what information we collect and how we use it.

Information you give us

When you use our contact forms, the Timber Value Calculator, or a listing application, we collect the information you enter — typically your name, phone number, email address, and (for the calculator) your property location and details about your timber. We use this information to respond to you, to prepare the report or service you asked for, and — only when you explicitly ask us to — to share your enquiry with timber businesses that cover your area so they can contact you.

Business listing information

Directory listings are compiled from publicly available sources, primarily the North Carolina Forest Service's published lists of timber buyers and primary processors. We display business names, cities, counties served, species purchased, and — for verified listings — contact details. If your business is listed and you would like your listing corrected, claimed, or removed, use our contact page and we will act on your request promptly.

What we don't do

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share landowner details with any business unless you checked the box asking to be connected. We do not send marketing email unless you signed up for it.

Payments

Listing payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card details; Stripe's own privacy policy governs payment processing.

Cookies and analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand which pages people find useful. It sets cookies in your browser and sends Google information about your visit — pages viewed, roughly where you are, and the site you arrived from. We ask Google to shorten your IP address before it is stored. We do not use it to build advertising profiles and we do not sell or share what it collects. Google's own privacy policy governs what Google does with it, and you can opt out of Google Analytics entirely with Google's browser add-on.

Separately, when you click through to a listed business's website or phone number, we record that a click happened: which listing, which page you clicked from, the country your browser reports, and the type of browser. No cookie, no account, and nothing that identifies you personally. We do this so we can tell a listed business how much interest their listing is getting, which is how this site pays for itself.

Fonts are currently served by Google Fonts, which may log requests per Google's privacy policy.

Retention and your rights

We keep enquiry information only as long as needed to serve you. You can ask us at any time to see, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you — use the contact page.

Changes

We'll post any changes to this policy on this page and update the date at the top.
