Roseburg is the largest commercial timberland owner in the Roanoke Valley region, holding roughly 158,000 acres acquired in 2017 plus about 30,000 more added in 2021 — close to 200,000 acres across North Carolina and Virginia. The Roanoke Rapids address is a timber management office rather than a mill, and the Roanoke Rapids Daily Herald reported in March 2024 that the building at 524 NC Highway 125 had been put up for sale after the forestry team moved to the company's new Roanoke Valley Lumber sawmill in Weldon. That mill opened in February 2024 on a 200-acre Halifax County site, covers 375,000 square feet, created 137 local jobs, and was designed for 400 million board feet of dimensional lumber a year; Roseburg said it chose the site partly for its proximity to the Roanoke Rapids office. The NC Forest Service register still lists a Roanoke Rapids procurement contact buying southern yellow pine sawlogs.
