Smoke House Lumber Co., Inc.
About Smoke House Lumber Co., Inc.
Most of what leaves this mill in the Inez community outside Warrenton is environmental silt fence stakes, treated against mold, and owner Warren Griffin has said the operation is "probably the largest producer in the country" of them. The mill runs about a million board feet a month with 85 employees. It also builds sweet potato storage boxes from dense oak, hickory and ash aimed at North Carolina growers and packers, sells new and used Class B pallets, heat-treats pallets to USDA export requirements, and sells seasoned firewood. Glenn "Smokey" Coleman started the business in 1985; Griffin bought it in 2002. It is owned and operated by parent company Louisburg Hardwood, Inc. alongside sister company Louisburg Box and Pallet, LLC, and the site states it is Pro Logger certified.
