Almost no North Carolina mill publishes what it charges; this one posts an open per-board-foot price list - cedar 4/4 at $3.75 dropping to $3.50 over 500 board feet, green red oak at $2.75, kiln-dried red oak at $4.50, green white oak at $4.00 and kiln-dried white oak at $7.00. The mill is one arm of a family-owned, chemical-free produce farm that also runs a CSA and sells live-edge furniture, balms and salves, and farm tours. It buys logs delivered rather than standing timber, cuts 4/4, 5/4 and custom sizes in cedar, red oak and white oak, and ships only on orders over 1,000 board feet. Open Sunday through Friday and closed Saturday, which is the reverse of most yards.

Peachland is the mill that takes what other yards turn away - gum, hickory, elm, hackberry and sycamore - cutting soft hardwoods into industrial timbers, cross ties and switch ties at a reported 16,000 to 18,000 board feet an hour. Edwards acquired the site in 2012; the parent company started in 1969 out of a dirt-floor chicken house in Marshville and now runs six North Carolina locations along with its own timber company and trucking arm. It is second-generation family owned and FSC certified company-wide. The NC Forest Service's Anson County register lists the Peachland mill as buying standing timber, hardwood grade logs, miscellaneous hardwood sawlogs and pine sawlogs, so a landowner sitting on a mixed, low-grade hardwood stand has a genuine outlet here.

Membership in the Association of Consulting Foresters is the detail worth pulling out here: ACF admits full-time consultants, so it signals this is the firm's actual business rather than a sideline. Society of American Foresters as well. The ground covered is twenty-four counties through the southern piedmont and sandhills, from Mecklenburg, Gaston and Cleveland east to Moore, Richmond, Scotland and Robeson. Fifteen services, the appraisal-cruise-sale trio included, with prescribed burning, forest real estate and environmental impact statements filling out the rest.

Surveying is the unusual one here. Most firms on the register cruise timber; this one also runs boundary lines, which means a disputed property corner and a volume estimate can be handled on the same visit. Coverage is eighteen counties across the southern piedmont and into the sandhills — Union and Mecklenburg east through Montgomery and Moore to Harnett and Robeson. Appraisal, cruising and sale administration are all listed, plus prescribed burning, herbicide application and wildlife management: sixteen services, a broad list for a single-forester firm.

Union and Mecklenburg east through Anson and Stanly to Moore, Scotland and Robeson: eleven counties across the southern piedmont and the Sandhills, with the office at Polkton in the middle of them. Fourteen services is a fuller list than most firms working an area this size — prescribed burning, herbicide application, logging engineering, forest taxation and recreation management sit alongside the appraisal, cruise and sale administration a timber sale actually needs. Fourteen services from a single registered forester is a wide brief, and it spans the whole arc of a sale: appraisal, cruise, sale and contract administration, then reforestation and stand improvement once the loggers are gone. Prescribed burning, herbicide work, wildlife management and recreation planning are on the register entry too — the profile of someone managing ground year-round rather than only at harvest. The territory is fifteen counties across the sandhills and southern piedmont, from Cabarrus and Union east to Cumberland and Robeson.

Surveying is the unusual entry here. Alongside appraisal, cruising and sale administration, the register lists this Rockingham firm for survey work — which means a boundary question and a timber cruise can be settled on the same visit, useful on inherited tracts where nobody is quite sure where the line runs. The footprint is deliberately tight: ten counties through the sandhills and the Uwharrie country, from Guilford and Randolph down to Scotland and Anson.

Mecklenburg, Cabarrus, Union, Stanly, Anson — the southern piedmont is the core of this Norwood firm's fourteen-county territory, with a second reach southwest into the foothills at Rutherford, Polk and Transylvania. Thirteen services on the register entry, covering appraisal, cruising and sale administration together with forest taxation, forest real estate, wildlife management and stewardship plans. That is a list aimed as much at the landowner still deciding what to do with a tract as at the one who has already decided to cut.

Stanly, Montgomery and Randolph sit at the middle of this territory, which reaches out to Mecklenburg, Iredell, Moore and Anson — fourteen counties of central and southern piedmont. The service list is the working core rather than the full menu: management plans, reforestation, stand improvement, and the appraisal, cruise and sale administration a timber sale runs on, with forest taxation and wildlife management alongside.

Eighteen services puts this listing in the top tenth of the register for breadth: appraisal, cruising and sale administration at the core, then prescribed burning, herbicide application, wetland delineation, forest real estate, taxation and urban forestry layered on top. Coverage runs to twenty-six counties across the southern piedmont and Sandhills, from Mecklenburg east to Johnston and down into Cumberland and Robeson. The Association of Consulting Foresters, which takes full-time consultants only, is listed. The registration itself is a recent one.
